The Beginning of the Story
Teatro Azione is an acting school founded in 1983 by Cristiano Censi and Isabella Del Bianco.
Cristiano Censi was an actor and director who trained in the late 1950s at the Piccolo School in Milan under Giorgio Strehler.
After graduating, he worked as an actor at the Piccolo for two seasons, in Dario Fo’s company, and later at the Stabile theaters in Turin, Bologna, and Florence.
In the 1970s, he founded his own company with Isabella Del Bianco: “Cristiano and Isabella.”
Isabella Del Bianco is an actress who graduated from the Silvio d’Amico Academy in Rome. After years of touring with Franco Enriquez’s Compagnia dei Quattro, alongside Glauco Mauri and Valeria Moriconi, she joined the Stabile Theater in Florence, where she worked as an actress for two years. Together with Cristiano Censi, she founded the “Cristiano and Isabella” company.
They worked together for years in Italian and European theaters, collaborating with, among others, Eugène Ionesco, Umberto Eco, Andrea Camilleri, Stefano Satta Flores, Vittorio Mezzogiorno, and Alida Cappellini.
In 1983, they founded the Teatro Azione acting school.
